SYN@PTICS®
Neural and Adaptive Systems

This website describes the independent research and consulting activities of

Luca Marchese

Syn@ptics is not a company or an official organization.

I have twenty years experience in simulation and application of neural networks and digital neural VLSI.
I have twentyfive years experience in computer programming on Assembly, C, C++, Java under Windows and Unix OS and client-server programming with CORBA.
I have knowledge on image processing and features extraction for pattern recognition using neural networks.
I'm experienced in Very High Speed Integrated Circuit Hardware Description Language (VHDL) programming with Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA).
I'm designer and developer of the first Common Object Request Broker Architecture(CORBA) neural server based on neural digital VLSI. I presented this technology at Third International Conference on Cognitive and Neural Systems (Boston 1998) and ANNIE2000 (Artificial Neural Networks In Engineering - University of Missouri-Rolla St.Louis 2000) and it's application in Neural Internet Search Engines at Fourth International Conference on Cognitive and Neural Systems (Boston 1999). I published on the web with free access the most read introductive book on neural networks and fuzzy logic in italian language.
My research activity has been related to neural, adaptive and bio-inspired systems and I'm inventor of the novel paradigm "Probabilistic Adaptive Learning Map" (PALM). Actually my research activity is focusing on the realization of smart devices based on digital neural chips.
I'm actually self-financing research with consulting activities on neural networks and fuzzy logic for industries, universities, organizations. One of these final applications has been a neural network tailored for meteorological forecast (Meteonet) developed for "DIPartimento del TErritorio e delle sue RISorse" (DIP.TE.RIS) of Genova University. An other final product has been a system to monitor multilayers Printed Circuit Boards(PCB)innerlayers misregistration without using x-ray machines.

IT skill details:
